The importance of good housekeeping practices is often understated at a construction site. However, subscribing to a consistent practice of good housekeeping can have multiple benefits. The housekeeping competition was organized by our client Godrej Properties.  It was held in August 2018 with the purpose of inculcating the importance of cleanliness and neatness at the project site, to reduce wastage and degradation of building materials and equipment, minimizing workplace hazards and minimizing health hazards by maintaining good sanitation. Evaluation was based on the following parameters: general housekeeping, access clarity, material stacking, debris management, signage display, material management process, waste management policy and implementation. Judging was conducted by the Godrej team, Project Management Consultant CBRE – Safety Manager, Quality Manager and Planning Manager every week in the month of the competition. Six teams participated, two from SJCPL and four from the other civil contractors. Both teams from SJCPL won the competition and came First and Runner-Up!

We recently completed shell work for 14 typical floors of a LIG Housing Project in Pune in just 130 days. Construction was done using Aluminium Formwork Technology. At peak, the best slab cycle achieved was 6 days. Congratulations to our team at this project on achieving this challenging feat in record time while maintaining quality!

Development of managerial skills or behavioral skills has commonly always been focused towards senior managers and project managers. However, we believe that these skills go hand-in-hand in the development of one’s technical skills and need to be inculcated at all levels of employees.

A special Learning and Development programme aimed at helping our junior level engineers and other skilled employees for improving their professional and personal qualities was introduced. The trainings were conducted mostly at sites and involved activity-based learning.

The program was conducted for the cadres of Junior Engineers, Supervisors and Foremen. The program was aimed at inculcating four important skills: Quality Orientation, Team Work, Reporting and Documentation as well as Interpersonal Skills. The programme was extremely well received by the team and we noticed a marked improvement in their confidence at work besides just skill!

• Module based on I.S. Code Rating Guidelines
• Module offers continuous Rating mechanism along with the progress of work
• Module is based on statistical principals of probability and laws of simple and weighted averages
  
• Module rating can be for the observation on Monthly basis only
• Module is a cumulative model from the start to the end & thus provides ratings from the beginning to the last day in a single repor
• Quantitative assessment of the works provides us a performance linkage to Contractors and Staff teams at site.
• The app provides a transparent platform for evaluating quality of execution work at a particular project in comparison to other projects
• The auditing process is conducted by a specifically trained team from the QA/QC department.
• All observations and Non-conformities are uploaded onto the app along with photos.
• The concerned teams or individuals can be tagged in order to notify them.
• A time limit is prescribed to close or resolve any issue, failing which the matter is escalated to the Directors.
• Every month a scorecard is published on the basis of observations and non-conformities recorded at respective projects.
