Directors Address
The calendar year has been rather exciting for us. We have started many new relationships with clients as well as vendors this year. We have also welcomed 350 new members to the SJCPL family while keeping attrition considerably lower than the previous years. This year has also marked considerable progress in terms of construction technology. Optimization in concrete manufacturing and the introduction of newer formwork systems has considerably helped us in improving the quality of our output.
Having said that, the New Year brings with it new opportunities and new aspirations as well. This year at SJCPL, we have resolved to create and become better leaders by practicing good leadership. We look at leadership as a learnable skill that can be mastered through practice.
Bhargav Jangle
Director, SJ Contracts Pvt. Ltd.
We believe that leadership is not really about being in charge of the job or its subsequent results, but it is actually about nurturing the people who are in charge. We believe that leadership is not really about being in charge of the job or its subsequent results, but it is actually about nurturing the people who are in charge. Looking after professional needs, academic needs and even personal needs is the only way to unleash the true potential in individuals and enable them to become the best leaders.
Practicing good and conscious leadership will thus be the ethos of our resolution this year.
Everyone at SJ contracts wishes you a very Happy New Year.

Announcement
Ms.Chitra Gore, Project Co-Ordinator at SJCPL was nominated to the Managing Committee of the Pune Chapter of ICI (Indian Concrete Institute)
Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) is a national organization of engineering professionals employed in concrete construction and associated research. It is dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge, promotion of the latest concrete technology and also works towards addressing the research needs on the subject. Ms.Chitra Gorhe is the only woman on the managing committee of this prestigious institution!
At SJCPL, we greatly value access to sustainable and advanced concrete technology, since more than 90% of the concrete we require across all our projects is produced in-house. This is done at our 9 batching plants that have a cumulative capacity of 300 cum/hr. We’re grateful that this representation at ICI would mean access to technical know-how and the latest developments in concrete technology that can be applied to make our projects more sustainable and cost-effective for us and ultimately, our clients.
5S Initiative
The Kaizen philosophy and 5S method is an internationally acknowledged practice that is dedicated to the improvement of productivity, efficiency, quality and in general, business excellence. Through consistent and dedicated efforts, we at SJCPL have begun adhering with the 5S philosophy, starting from our main warehouse and aiming to integrate it to the entire company and subsequently, even our projects. The 5S method involves Sorting-Arranging-Cleaning-Standardizing-Disciplining of material resources to increase their lifecycle and utilize them more efficiently. Implementing this has helped us in reducing wastage that results from poor stock-keeping and also enabled us to meet our increased demand for resources with our existing stock, thereby reducing costs.
Featured Projects
L&T Strategic Systems Complex, Talegaon
The Strategic Systems Complex (SSC) is a state-of-the-art facility set up by L&T at Talegaon, Maharashtra. This project was awarded to SJCPL in 2008 and we were involved in the total turnkey construction of the project. Being one of the first facilities set up by a private player for the production of Strategic Weapon Platforms, Sensors and Military Engineering Systems, we had to bear in mind the minute functional and form details that were unique to this project.
Spread over an area of 30 acres, the facility area includes dedicated spaces for
- Two Assembly & Integration Shops with self-equipped modular workstations
- Electronics Shop dedicated for manufacturing of electronic systems
- High-Pressure Test Facility for hydro-pneumatic systems
- General Purpose Test Facility for the integration of special products
- Insourcing Facility for Fabrication of Military Engineering Systems
- Administrative Block with Platinum Rated Green Building
The administrative block of the project was awarded a platinum rating LEED Certificate. We were also honored with the Best Industrial Project Award by ASEA for this project.
Castel Royale Towers
Currently, Pune’s tallest tower, standing at 110 meters, Castel Royale is an ultra-luxurious residential project that offers premium apartments overlooking the lush greenery of Pune University. Amidst tough competition from reputed contractors from Mumbai, SJCPL was awarded this project in 2009 after convincing ABIL about our capabilities to execute this grand project. The project consisted of total 3 towers in Phase 1. Timely delivery and quality construction in Phase 1 meant that the subsequent phase of 3 towers was also awarded to us. Till date, SJCPL has constructed all the 5 towers for this project.
Executing Pune’s tallest buildings required the use of specialized formwork and techniques. Some of the equipment and formwork used in the project include
- Aluminium Panel System for Walls.
- Aluminium decking Panels for Slabs
- Potain Tower Crane
- Concrete pump for 150m height which was used for the first time in Pune
- External Plaster of 110 m building done on Suspended Rope Platforms
- Alimak Passenger hoist for 100m height which was used for the first time in Pune
- Total Station used for all line out on each floor to maintain plum through 100m
- On site batching plant of 30cum/hr
